Simulation of a pediatric hospital in evacuation considering groups

Yi Li et al.

Summary: This paper studies the emergency evacuation of pedestrians in a pediatric hospital, finding that pedestrians often move in family units or groups, with heterogeneous characteristics in both speed and member composition. The use of an extended cellular automata model considering groups and the implementation of rules such as overlapping, speeding up, and priority orders have been shown to significantly reduce evacuation time and waiting time for groups, while having minimal impact on independent pedestrians.
