Improving the economy and energy efficiency of separating water/acetonitrile/isopropanol mixture via triple-column pressure-swing distillation with heat-pump technology

Summary: The separation of water/acetonitrile/isopropanol ternary mixture is challenging, but pressure-swing distillation (PSD) is an effective method. Different PSD processes were studied, with the W-A-I separation sequence showing better performance. Energy-saving methods such as heat integration, heat-pump, and heat exchanger network were introduced to utilize heat effectively, with PSD-THPHEN being the most cost and energy efficient option.
