Chlorination behaviors for green and efficient vanadium recovery from tailing of refining crude titanium tetrachloride

Guangchao Du et al.

Summary: A fluidized chlorination process was proposed for effective and selective extraction of vanadium from refined tailings, resulting in high purity vanadium oxytrichloride. The chlorination residue can be further utilized for titanium extraction, providing a new prospect for clean utilization of refined tailings.

Removal of natural organic matter from source water: Review on coagulants, dual coagulation, alternative coagulants, and mechanisms

H. N. P. Dayarathne et al.

Summary: Natural organic matter (NOM) can significantly impact drinking water quality, causing taste, odour, and colour problems. Removing NOM is challenging as it can lead to the formation of disinfection by-products which are harmful to human health. Various technologies have been used to remove NOM, with coagulants being the most common method.

Potential of titanium coagulants for water and wastewater treatment: Current status and future perspectives

Yonghai Gan et al.

Summary: Titanium coagulants have attracted attention for their outstanding performance and lack of metal residues, but face challenges in controllability, speciation analysis, and identifying specific application scenarios. Cost reduction and sludge recycling are important measures to promote the future application of titanium coagulants in water treatment.

High-efficient removal of arsenite by coagulation with titanium xerogel coagulant

Xiaomeng Wang et al.

Summary: Titanium xerogel coagulant (TXC) showed superior performance over titanium sulfate (TS) and titanium tetrachloride (TC) under acidic conditions due to moderate pH decline during coagulation process. A dose of 10 mg Ti/L TXC could remove over 90% of As(III) at pH 7.0 and 8.0. The enhanced mechanisms involved strong adsorption ability of in-situ formed flocs and binding affinity between As(III) and hydrolysates.

Sustainable Removal of Microplastics and Natural Organic Matter from Water by Coagulation-Flocculation with Protein Amyloid Fibrils

Mohammad Peydayesh et al.

Summary: Lysozyme amyloid fibrils, a novel natural bio-flocculant, demonstrate excellent turbidity removal efficiency in removing dispersed MPs, NOM, and turbid particles from water. Their positively charged surface and superior performance compared to commercial flocculants make them a promising solution for water purification.
