Efficient separation of vanadium, titanium, and iron from vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite by pressurized pyrolysis of ammonium chloride-acid leaching-solvent extraction process

Zhenzhong Bian et al.

Summary: A novel process involving pressurized pyrolysis, acid leaching, and solvent extraction was developed to efficiently separate vanadium, titanium, and iron from vanadium-bearing titanomagnetite. The analysis showed that pressurized pyrolysis of ammonium chloride could enhance the capture of vanadium by generated ferric/ferrous chloride in situ. The resulting vanadium and iron concentrations were enriched through solvent extraction, while the titania concentration in the acid leaching residue could be used for TiO2 pigment production.

High-efficiency simultaneous extraction of rare earth elements and iron from NdFeB waste by oxalic acid leaching

Qingsheng Liu et al.

Summary: A new method for leaching NdFeB waste with oxalic acid was developed to achieve high-efficiency, simultaneous and high-value recovery of rare earth elements and iron, simplifying the process and improving economic benefit. The results of oxalic acid leaching experiments showed that under the optimum conditions, both the iron leaching efficiency and rare earth oxalate precipitation rate can exceed 90%.

Effect of electrode porosity on the charge transfer in vanadium redox flow battery

Aumber Abbas et al.

Summary: This study investigates how the porosity of electrodes, specifically using spent tea derived porous carbon, affects the electrocatalytic activity and charge transfer in vanadium redox flow batteries (VRB). It shows that modifying the electrode to have higher porosity enhances the charge transfer process and improves the electrocatalytic activity for vanadium redox reactions. The results suggest that tailored porosity significantly influences charge migration and enhances the overall performance of VRB.

Thermal decomposition of ferrous oxalate nanowires to porous nanowire-like alpha-Fe2O3 with a good gas-sensing properties

Yong Jia et al.

Summary: This study utilized a convenient, surfactant-free reducing approach to synthesize FeC2O4•2H2O nanowires, which were further calcined to mesoporous α-Fe2O3 nanowires with a large aspect ratio. The resulting sensor exhibited excellent gas-sensing characteristics and long-term stability, attributed to the high content of defect-related oxygen species revealed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.
