Gas sensor towards n-butanol at low temperature detection: Hierarchical flower-like Ni-doped Co3O4 based on solvent-dependent synthesis

Pengfei Cheng et al.

Summary: In this study, hierarchical flower-like Ni-doped Co3O4 was successfully synthesized using a facile method, and the effect of ethanol/water ratio on samples was investigated. Gas sensors based on the prepared materials showed excellent performance, with the sensor using 5.3 mol% Ni-doped Co3O4 microflowers exhibiting the highest response towards n-butanol, as well as outstanding anti-humidity properties and long-term stability. The improved gas sensing properties were attributed to the unique hierarchical flower-like microstructure and optimized parameters resulting from the Ni doping.

3D radial Co3O4 nanorod cluster derived from cobalt-based layered hydroxide metal salt for enhanced trace acetone detection

Xurong Qiao et al.

Summary: In this study, 3D radial Co3O4 was successfully fabricated using Co-LHMS as a self-template, showing higher sensitivity and lower detection limit to sub-ppm acetone. The excellent gas sensing performance of the material can be attributed to its large specific surface area, numerous transmission pathways, and low grain boundary resistance.

Bimetal Au-Pd decorated hierarchical WO3 nanowire bundles for gas sensing application

Shah Zeb et al.

Summary: This study developed a simple and effective method to deposit bimetal Au-Pd nanoparticles onto WO3 nanowires, enhancing the sensitivity to n-butanol gas. The addition of Pd decoration significantly reduced the operating temperature of the WO3 sensor and improved the sensing performance for n-butanol gas in VOCs.
