The role of oxygen vacancies on SnO2 surface in reducing cross-sensitivity between ambient humidity and CO: A first principles investigation

Summary: This study investigates the effect of oxygen vacancies on the adsorption mechanism of H2O and CO on SnO2 surfaces using DFT calculations. The findings suggest that oxygen vacancies provide more sites for H2O adsorption to compensate for humidity interference, and the CO to CO2 conversion at oxygen vacancies shows high charge transfer and strong adsorption energy, providing guidance for fabricating more efficient CO sensors.
