The proposed optical fiber sensor based on NCF and TCF has a hybrid structure that effectively addresses cross-sensitivity issues, allowing for simultaneous measurement of strain and temperature with high sensitivities.
An optical fiber sensor based on no-core fiber (NCF) and two-core fiber(TCF) for simultaneous measurement of strain and temperature is proposed. The sensor is based on a hybrid structure of NCF-TCF-NCF-TCF-NCF. The proposed sensor solves the problem of cross-sensitivity to a certain extent. The sensitivities of strain are -5.46 pm/mu epsilon and -3.36 pm/mu epsilon in the range from 0 to 600 mu epsilon. The sensitivities of temperature are 48.6 pm/degrees C and 25.1 pm/degrees C in the ranging from 35 to 60 degrees C, respectively. By analyzing the amplitude of spatial frequency spectrum, the sensitivities of stain and temperature are 0.00025 a.u./mu epsilon and 0.0118 a.u./degrees C. (C) 2021 Published by Elsevier B.V.
