A 2300-year record of glacier fluctuations at Skilak and Eklutna Lakes, south-central Alaska

Joseph E. Thomas et al.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between Holocene glacier fluctuations and hydroclimate changes in south-central Alaska, using sediment cores from Skilak Lake and Eklutna Lake. The research suggests that regional climate change is the overriding control of glacier fluctuations, with glacier expansion during the Little Ice Age correlating with increased sediment accumulation rate.

Earthquake doublet revealed by multiple pulses in lacustrine seismo-turbidites

Katleen Wils et al.

Summary: This study presents a new methodology to reveal the sedimentary imprint of earthquake doublets in lacustrine paleoseismic records using flow direction analysis in multipulsed turbidites, providing the first unmistakable sedimentary evidence for an earthquake doublet. The methodology has great potential to be applied to multipulsed turbidites in various subaquatic paleoseismic records and can reveal the occurrence of unknown earthquake sequences.
