Enzyme immobilization using two processing methods onto silica core-shell particles

Milan P. Nikolic et al.

Summary: Two methods of enzyme immobilization onto silica core-shell particles were developed, involving the deposition of mesoporous silica layers at different temperatures to prevent enzyme leakage and thermal inactivation. The aggregation of silica nanoparticles prepared from highly basic sodium silicate solution at different temperatures was also investigated. The immobilization efficiency and activity of the enzymes inside the silica layers were analyzed, showing different effects on lipase and invertase.
