Spatial distribution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the water-sediment system near chemical industry parks in the Yangtze River Delta, China

Tianqi Jia et al.

Summary: The distribution and sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in surface water and sediment samples around the industrial parks in the Yangtze River Delta are strongly influenced by industrial emissions, with high molecular weight (HMW) PAHs dominating in sediment and low molecular weight (LMW) PAHs dominating in water. The ecological risk assessment indicated that most sites were at low to medium risk, but one site posed a high risk.

Parent and Substitute Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Reduction in Urban Rivers-Benefits of the Energy Transition Policy from 2009 to 2017 in Beijing, China

Meng Qiao et al.

Summary: The implementation of coal-fired reduction and clean energy growth policy in Beijing, China, during the 12th and 13th Five-Year Plan Period resulted in a significant decrease in concentrations of PAHs and MPAHs in urban rivers. This reduction was mainly attributed to the decrease in WWTP influent from various sources, rather than WWTP upgrading or other sources.
