What is the effect of 19 years of restoration managements on soil and vegetation on formerly improved upland grassland?

Lenka Pavlu et al.

Summary: This paper explores the impacts of 19 years of restoration managements on botanical diversity in upland temperate grassland. The type of defoliation was found to be the key driver influencing plant species diversity, with postponing the first defoliation to the middle of the growing season being the most effective restoration management option. Continuous low-density sheep grazing was not recommended as a means of long-term maintenance or restoration management of European temperate grasslands.
