Tumor cell-derived SPON2 promotes M2-polarized tumor-associated macrophage infiltration and cancer progression by activating PYK2 in CRC

Chengmei Huang et al.

Summary: SPON2 drives M2-TAM infiltration in the tumor microenvironment, playing an important role in colorectal cancer tumor growth and metastasis, suggesting its potential as a valuable biomarker guiding macrophage-targeting therapies.

Functionalized Nanoparticles Targeting Tumor-Associated Macrophages as Cancer Therapy

Yuanyuan He et al.

Summary: The tumor microenvironment is crucial in regulating antitumor immune responses, with a focus on M2 macrophages. Immunotherapy approaches targeting tumor-associated macrophages aim to reduce the immunosuppressive state, however, facing limitations such as drug degradation rate and cytotoxicity. Nanomedicine formulations offer promising strategies in cancer therapy by specifically targeting M2 TAMs, reducing side effects and enhancing therapeutic potential.

Role of the Inflammatory Response of RAW 264.7 Cells in the Metastasis of Novel Cancer Stem-Like Cells

Chan-Yen Kuo et al.

Summary: This study found that in RAW264.7 cells cultured in T2C conditioned medium, ROS levels decreased while chemotaxis abilities improved. M2-like macrophages in these cells had elongated shape, increased CD206 expression, but decreased CD86 and inducible nitric oxide synthase expression. Suppression of ER stress shifted polarized M1-like macrophages towards an M2-like phenotype.
