The AcrAB-TolC Efflux Pump Impacts Persistence and Resistance Development in Stationary-Phase Escherichia coli following Delafloxacin Treatment

Brandon A. Byrd et al.

Summary: Bacteria have developed various strategies to overcome antibiotics, with the mechanisms used by persisters potentially varying depending on the mode of action of different classes of antibiotics. This study reveals that in Escherichia coli, the activity of persisters surviving treatment with the anionic fluoroquinolone delafloxacin depends on the AcrAB-TolC efflux pump.
