Electrochemical determination of 8-hydroxyquinoline in a cosmetic product on a glassy carbon electrode modified with 1-amino-2-naphthol-4-sulphonic acid

Tugba Tabanligil Calam et al.

Summary: A new voltammetric method was developed for the determination of 8-hydroxyquinoline using an ANSA-GC modified electrode, showing excellent stability and reproducibility. The modified electrode was successfully applied for the determination of 8-hydroxyquinoline in a blush cosmetic product with results comparable to standard spectrophotometry.

Thermal efficiency improvement of super-lean burn spark ignition engine by stratified water insulation on piston top surface

Tsuyoshi Nagasawa et al.

Summary: The study proposes that thermal stratification technique by in-cylinder water injection towards piston surface can improve the thermal efficiency of spark ignition engine under super-lean burn conditions, reduce heat flux on the piston surface, mitigate knock, enhance combustion, and increase indicated thermal efficiency. The research also demonstrates that water injection at an earlier stage of a compression stroke makes it possible to mitigate knock without significant increase in combustion instability, and enables spark advance and combustion enhancement. Additionally, applying the concept of stratified water insulated combustion architecture at higher compression ratios can further enhance thermal efficiency with minimum spark advance for best torque operation.

Operating range, combustion, performance and emissions of an HCCI engine fueled with naphtha

Samet Celebi et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigated the effects of naphtha on HCCI combustion in an engine, finding that knocking tendency decreased as lambda value increased and more stable combustion was achieved with the addition of naphtha. The addition of naphtha led to delayed HCCI combustion and wider operating range compared to n-heptane.

Modelling of performance, emission, and combustion of an HCCI engine fueled with fusel oil-diethylether fuel blends as a renewable fuel

Seyed Mohammad Safieddin Ardebili et al.

Summary: This study aimed to model the performance and exhaust emissions characteristics of an HCCI engine fueled with fusel oil/diethylether fuel using the response surface method. The optimal combination of engine working conditions was determined, achieving a high desirability of 82%. The outcomes showed that all multi-regression models developed by the RSM method successfully estimated the variations of both engine performance indicators and exhaust emissions.

Prediction of performance and exhaust emissions of a CI engine fueled with multi-wall carbon nanotube doped biodiesel-diesel blends using response surface method

Hamit Solmaz et al.

Summary: This study investigated the performance and exhaust emissions of a direct-injection diesel engine fueled with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) in biodiesel-blended diesel fuel using response surface method (RSM). Results showed that adding MWCNTs to the fuel can reduce UHC and CO emissions while increasing NOx emissions. The optimal engine working conditions were found to be a load of 10 Nm and a concentration of 98 ppm for MWCNTs.

Ahmet Bogrek et al.

Summary: Low temperature combustion engines are a new combustion model that can reduce nitrogen oxide emissions and increase thermal efficiency simultaneously. Experimentally investigating different chemical properties of low and high reactivity fuel mixtures in such engines can help optimize performance in various operating conditions.

Combustion, performance and emission analyses of organic Manganese-Added crambe abyssinica biodiesel in a direct injection diesel engine

Ayhan Uyaroglu et al.

Summary: In this study, biodiesel was produced from Crambe Abyssinica plant with KOH and NaOH catalysts and mixed with standard diesel fuel. The experiments showed that CANB25K fuel had higher thermal efficiency compared to CAKB25K, but higher BSFC. Compared to diesel, both CANB and CAKB fuels with added organic manganese showed improved thermal efficiency at 11.25 Nm load.
