This review presents recent advances and properties of carborane-siloxane polymers, while also discussing their origin, future potentials, and practical applications.
The rapid development in aerospace, automobile, and chemical industry has put forward demands on polymeric materials which are able to maintain their structures and performance at high temperatures. Carborane-siloxane polymers are one of the candidates suitable for applications under harsh environments and have been widely investigated. This review introduces the recent advances, synthesis routes and properties of carborane-siloxane polymers. The origin and future potentials are all presented. The main characteristics and practical applications are also described.
