Our evolving understanding of the role of the γδ T cell receptor in γδ T cell mediated immunity

Benjamin S. Lully et al.

Summary: γδT cells, a relatively enigmatic immune cell lineage, are considered as a potential new translational tool in the design of therapeutics for cancer and infectious disease due to their central importance in diverse immunological roles and homeostasis. Our current understanding of γδT cell biology focuses on how the γδT cell receptor mediates ligand recognition, highlighting limited knowledge of antigens, the structural basis of reactivities, and emerging trends in γδT cell reactivity.
