CFD Investigation of Flame and Pressure Wave Propagation through Variable Concentration Methane-Air Mixtures in a Tube Closed at One End

Zhengbiao Peng et al.

Summary: The CFD modeling of methane-air combustion and pressure wave propagation in a detonation tube reveals three stages in the pressure wave propagation: growth, decoupling, and decay. Different methane concentrations do not affect peak overpressure or pressure wave propagation, but do impact flame profile and propagation. The flame acceleration rate is found to be exponential in the growth stage of pressure wave propagation, transitioning to linear acceleration.

Study on explosion suppression of coal dust with different particle size by shell powder and NaHCO3

Xiangrui Wei et al.

Summary: This study investigated the differences in suppression of different particle sizes of coal dust using inert and active explosion suppressants. The results showed that active explosion suppressants were more effective in suppressing fine coal dust, while inert suppressants were more advantageous in suppressing coarse coal dust. The study provides scientific theoretical guidance for targeted coal dust explosion suppression.

Preparation and performance of novel APP/NaY-Fe suppressant for coal dust explosion

Qingxi Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel composite suppressant was developed to successfully suppress coal dust explosions. Increasing the content of the suppressant improved the explosion suppression performance, lowering the maximum explosion pressure to 0.13 MPa. The new suppressant showed high thermal stability and good dispersity.

Study on suppression of coal dust explosion by superfine NaHCO3/shell powder composite suppressant

Yansong Zhang et al.

Summary: The superfine NaHCO3-shell powder (S-S) composite explosion suppressant prepared by one-step method with an airflow crusher showed excellent explosion suppression performance in optimizing the composition, reducing particle agglomeration, improving dispersion, lowering ignition sensitivity, delaying explosion occurrence time, etc. The suppression effect on coal dust explosion is far better than that of pure NaHCO3 or shell powder.

Experimental study on the explosion behaviors of premixed syngas-air mixtures in ducts

Weiguo Cao et al.

Summary: The explosion characteristics of premixed syngas-air mixtures in ducts were studied experimentally. The ratio of L/H and H-2/CO had significant effects on the explosion flame behaviors. Venting pressure affected overpressure dynamics, which increased with L/H ratio and H-2/CO ratio.

Inertant effects and mechanism of Al(OH)3 powder on polyethylene dust explosions based on flame propagation behavior and thermal analysis

Song Lin et al.

Summary: The addition of Al(OH)(3) powder has a significant effect on the structure and propagation characteristics of a polyethylene dust explosion flame, by decreasing flame brightness and propagation velocity, and diminishing flame pulsation. Al(OH)(3) powder retards the acceleration of flame propagation and decreases the thermal weight loss of polyethylene, showing significance in the prevention and treatment of polyethylene dust explosion accidents.

Flame characteristics of premixed H2-air mixtures explosion venting in a spherical container through a duct

Weiguo Cao et al.

Summary: The study found that under certain conditions, a high hydrogen fraction can make secondary combustion easier to occur and increase the duration of the secondary flame; meanwhile, an increase in the length of the venting duct will result in an increase in the flame front distance and propagation velocity.
