Equilibrium charge and triboelectric coefficient of spheres in a rotating container

Summary: Contact electrification in granular material systems was investigated using a rotating spherical container. The effects of various factors on the charge and triboelectric coefficient of spheres were analyzed. It was found that the equilibrium surface charge density is independent of sphere size and rotational speed, and that the triboelectric coefficient increases with higher rotational speed. The presence of water molecules in the air was observed to decrease charge generation constant and increase charge relaxation constant, leading to a decrease in equilibrium surface charge density.
