Geometric optimization of fi ltering cylindrical hydrocyclones

Fernanda Falqueto Salvador et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of geometric variables on the separation performance of a filtering cylindrical hydrocyclone (FCyH). The main difference observed between FCyH and conventional hydrocyclones was in the Euler number. An optimization study using the Differential Evolution Algorithm was carried out to find two categories of hydrocyclones, resulting in a hydrocyclone with total efficiency 8.1% higher than the equipment with the highest efficiency.

Numerical analysis of the effect of solid rod on the flow field and separation performance of thick-walled overflow pipe hydrocyclone

Feng Li et al.

Summary: The hydrocyclone is a common equipment for solid-liquid separation, but it has shortcomings such as short-circuit flow and air core. Researchers have proposed methods to improve the separation performance, such as changing the structure of the overflow pipe and introducing a thick-walled overflow pipe design. These improvements have shown promising results in reducing short-circuit flow and enhancing separation accuracy.

Research on the structure of the cylindrical hydrocyclone spigot to mitigate the misplacement of particles

Duanxu Hou et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the flow field characteristics and separation performance of cylindrical hydrocyclones with different spigot upper diameters using the TFM model. The study finds that the spigot upper diameter significantly impacts the separation efficiency, with both undersize and oversize diameters leading to particle misplacement and negative classification performance.

Linking separation sharpness with the characteristics of axial velocity wave zone in a hydrocyclone

Qiang Zhao et al.

Summary: The axial velocity wave zone in hydrocyclones plays a critical role in separation sharpness, which is influenced by geometric parameters. Improving the symmetry of flow field and optimizing the spatial distribution of this zone can enhance separation sharpness.
