Possibility of using leaf extracts of tree-of-heaven (Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle) for the postharvest quality preservation of fresh apricot fruits

Ramazan Gurbuz et al.

Summary: The leaf extracts of A. altissima have shown strong capabilities in preventing weight loss, reducing decay incidence, protecting visual quality, delaying chilling injury, maintaining fruit firmness, and delaying the reduction in ascorbic acid content in apricot fruits.

The role of cell wall polysaccharides disassembly in Lasiodiplodia theobromae-induced disease occurrence and softening of fresh longan fruit

Yazhen Chen et al.

Summary: The disassembly of cell wall polysaccharides in fresh longans induced by enzymatic manipulation is essential for the invasion of Lasiodiplodia theobromae, leading to disease occurrence and fruit softening. Infection by L. theobromae resulted in more severe disease development, lower firmness, decreased cell wall materials and pectin content, and increased activities of cell wall polysaccharide-disassembling enzymes.
