Feature selection and clustering of damage for pseudo-ductile unidirectional carbon/glass hybrid composite using acoustic emission

Amos Ichenihi et al.

Summary: This study utilized acoustic emission (AE) analysis to investigate the structural behavior of hybrid composites, deriving new AE parameters and incorporating the Cronbach's alpha test for feature selection. Through this process, the constituent fiber breakage mechanisms were successfully clustered separately, along with discussions on pseudo-ductility based on the clustered AE signals. This work is crucial in evaluating hybrid composites by studying the behavior of the constituent fibers using AE analysis.

Impact Damage Ascertainment in Composite Plates Using In-Situ Acoustic Emission Signal Signature Identification

Robin James et al.

Summary: This paper presents a method to determine internal damage caused by low-velocity impact events in composite aircraft structures by analyzing high-frequency information in recorded acoustic emission signals. By analyzing the acoustic emission signals, it is possible to quickly identify whether impact events have damaged the structure.
