One-Step Modification of Diacid-Functional Polythioethers via Simultaneous Passerini and Esterification Reactions

Begum Gungor et al.

Summary: This study introduces a one-step Passerini and esterification reaction strategy at the macromolecular level. The use of Passerini 3-component reaction with P-H allows for the creation of various ester functionalities in the final polymer. The ratio of ester and Passerini products in the modified polymers is monitored by H-1 NMR analyses.

Four component Passerini polymerization of bulky monomers under high shear flow

Bryan T. Tuten et al.

Summary: Utilizing a vortex fluidic device facilitates the incorporation of bulky isocyanides into Passerini polymerization, significantly reducing reaction time without the requirement of high-pressure or temperature. The four component approach using functional cyclic anhydrides allows for post-polymerization modification to be achieved.
