Multiple phase change-stimulated shape memory and self-healing epoxy composites with thermal regulation function

Zhaowen Huang et al.

Summary: A novel thermal regulation FSPCM with shape memory and self-healing properties has been developed in this study to address the issues of rigidity and vulnerability of FSPCMs at low temperatures and beyond phase transition points. The FSPCM is synthesized by confining EGDS within a polymer matrix through photo-initiated polymerization, with pre-grafted SA crystalline segments enhancing compatibility between the matrix and EGDS for multiple phase transitions and shape memory control. This composite FSPCM shows good thermal regulation performance and high thermal reliability, promising applications in thermal management of integrated circuits and building glazing systems.

The role of ionic clusters in the determination of the properties of partially neutralized ethylene-acrylic acid ionomers

Emese Pregi et al.

Summary: Ionomers with different degrees of neutralization were prepared from an ethylene-acrylic acid copolymer, with properties characterized through various analytical techniques. The main relaxing species in ionomers are methylene groups and copolymer segments, with clusters forming above a critical degree of neutralization. The mechanical properties are determined by the crystalline structure and cluster formation, which can increase strength and modulus while decreasing deformability.

Excellent triple-shape memory effect and superior recovery stress of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer fiber

Xiaoming Qi et al.

Summary: The study successfully achieved excellent triple shape memory effect by regulating the crystalline structure transformation of EVA fibers. Dynamic mechanical analysis and differential scanning calorimetry observed a wide melting transition temperature, indicating the superior shape memory effect and tunable reversible effect of EVA fibers. Thermo-mechanical testing showed that EVA fibers have the ability to achieve an excellent triple shape memory effect and a superior recovery stress.
