Genome wide association mapping through 90K SNP array against leaf rust pathogen in bread wheat genotypes under field conditions

Hafiz Ghulam Muhu-Din Ahmed et al.

Summary: Leaf rust is a major infectious disease that threatens wheat production annually. By evaluating 105 bread wheat genotypes under field conditions, 34 genotypes were categorized as resistant, while 30, 32, and 9 genotypes were classified as moderately resistant, moderately susceptible, and susceptible, respectively. Genome wide association study identified 56 marker-trait associations significantly associated with resistance against leaf rust, providing potential new genomic regions for breeding durable resistant wheat varieties.

Genome-Wide Association Mapping for Stomata and Yield Indices in Bread Wheat under Water Limited Conditions

Hafiz Ghulam Muhu-Din Ahmed et al.

Summary: GWAS was conducted in bread wheat using high-density Illumina 90K Infinium SNP array to determine genetic potential for water shortage tolerance. Significant SNPs associated with stomatal frequency, leaf venation and grain yield under water shortage conditions were identified, highlighting the importance of these traits for drought tolerance in wheat.
