Rapid in situ quantification of the strobilurin resistance mutation G143A in the wheat pathogen Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici

Summary: The increasing incidence of fungicide resistance in plant pathogens necessitates rapid diagnostic methods for disease control and resistance management. Quantitative allele-specific PCR (ASqPCR) is an ideal technique for in-field analysis of fungicide resistance, successfully applied to the fungal pathogen Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici (Bgt) causing wheat powdery mildew. The development of an in-field ASqPCR assay for quantifying strobilurin-resistant allele demonstrates potential for effective in-season management of fungicide resistance.
