Antibacterial Prenylated p-Hydroxybenzoic Acid Derivatives from Oberonia myosurus and Identification of Putative Prenyltransferases

Summary: Twelve previously unknown tandem prenylated p-hydroxybenzoic acid derivatives, named oberoniamyosurusins A-L, were isolated from the plant Oberonia myosurus, along with five known derivatives. Some of the compounds exhibited moderate inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The biosynthetic pathway of these compounds was investigated using transcriptome sequencing of O. myosurus, identifying potential enzymes involved in nervogenic acid biosynthesis.

Discovery of Natural Co-occurring Enantiomers of Monoterpenoid Indole Alkaloids

Summary: The study isolated two new pairs of monoterpenoid indole alkaloids (MIAs) enantiomers as well as their new congeners from the stems of Tabernaemontana bovina Lour., revealing unprecedented ring system structures and reporting co-occurring enantiomers of MIAs for the first time. It also provided an explanation for the biogenesis of MIAs, suggesting potential for further exploration and diversification of MIAs.
