Voacafrines A-N, aspidosperma-type monoterpenoid indole alkaloids from Voacanga africana with AChE inhibitory activity

Qian Zhao et al.

Summary: Fourteen undescribed monoterpenoid indole alkaloids, voacafrines A-N, along with 7 known monoterpenoid indole alkaloids were isolated from the seeds of Voacanga africana Stapf. The structures and activities of these compounds varied, with some exhibiting acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity and cytotoxicity against human cancer cell lines.

DP from Euphorbia fischeriana S. mediated apoptosis in leukemia cells via the PI3k/Akt signaling pathways

Liwei Ma et al.

Summary: Euphorbia fischeriana is a traditional Chinese herb used for cancer treatment, insect repellent, anti-inflammatory, and anti-edema applications. 12-Deoxyphorbol13-palmitate (DP) extracted from this herb inhibited leukemia cell proliferation and induced apoptosis in vitro by suppressing the PI3k/Akt signaling pathways. In vivo experiments on nude mice showed significant tumor volume reduction in DP-treated groups, confirming its potential as an anti-leukemia agent.

Eupholides A-H, abietane diterpenoids from the roots of Euphorbia fischeriana, and their bioactivities

Da-Wei Li et al.

Summary: The roots of Euphorbia fischeriana contain 15 diterpenoids that show moderate inhibitory effects on the proliferation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with eupholides F-H being the most effective. Additionally, some of these compounds significantly inhibit the lyase activity of human carboxylesterase 2.
