Mitigating long transient time in deterministic systems by resetting

Arnob Ray et al.

Summary: This study explores the use of resetting in dynamical systems to expedite the process of reaching a stable equilibrium point, reducing transient time and fluctuations. The results demonstrate the emergence of an optimal restart time that minimizes the mean transient time globally, providing insights into controlling transients in dynamical systems.

Nonlinear climate dynamics: From deterministic behaviour to stochastic excitability and chaos

Dmitri V. Alexandrov et al.

Summary: Glacial-interglacial cycles are global climatic changes that have occurred over the past 3 million years, and they are modeled using low-order dynamical systems and the Milankovitch theory. This study explores the effects of stochastic forcings on generating large-scale oscillations in these cycles, demonstrating how noise can lead to trajectories that differ from deterministic models.

Achieving criticality for reservoir computing using environment-induced explosive death

Swarnendu Mandal et al.

Summary: Through coupling a network of non-identical oscillators indirectly via an environment, the system can achieve criticality at the edge of an explosive transition, maximizing its information processing capacity. The efficiency of reservoir computing is determined by its computational accuracy for different tasks. By analyzing the entropy of the reservoir for various tasks, it is confirmed that maximum accuracy corresponds to the edge of chaos or stability for the reservoir.

Investigating amplitude death in a coupled nonlinear aeroelastic system

Ashwad Raaj et al.

Summary: The study explores the possibility of using the concept of Amplitude Death (AD) to suppress oscillatory instabilities in aeroelastic systems, specifically focusing on flutter instability caused by nonlinear fluid-structure interactions. Coupling two airfoils together, the effects of coupling strength and time delay on the regime of AD are systematically varied to investigate their impact on flutter suppression. The findings demonstrate that AD can effectively suppress flutter instability and serve as a potential mechanism for flutter suppression in both deterministic and stochastic input flow scenarios.

Effect of Self Feedback on Mean-Field Coupled Oscillators: Revival and Quenching of Oscillations

Saumen Chakraborty et al.

Summary: In this study, a self-feedback control scheme is proposed to achieve oscillation quenching or retrieve rhythmic behavior, providing better control on the dynamics of the mean-field coupled system. Additionally, a transition phenomenon from inhomogeneous limit cycle (IHLC) to homogeneous limit cycle (HLC) through chaotic route has been observed in the modified system.

Dynamics of Coupled Thermoacoustic Oscillators Under Asymmetric Forcing

Ankit Sahay et al.

Summary: This study investigates the dynamics of thermoacoustic oscillators subjected to mutual coupling and asymmetric external forcing, showing enhanced oscillation quenching region when both mechanisms are utilized simultaneously. The complementary effect of amplitude death and asynchronous quenching contributes to this enhancement. Forced response of coupled nonidentical oscillators reveals insignificant impact of forcing on synchronization and quenching of oscillations. The findings offer fresh insights into the combined effects of mutual and forced synchronization in a system of coupled nonlinear oscillators.

Revival of oscillation and symmetry breaking in coupled quantum oscillators

Biswabibek Bandyopadhyay et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that quantum oscillation suppression states can be revoked and rhythmogenesis can be established in coupled quantum oscillators by controlling a feedback parameter. However, in the deep quantum regime, the feedback parameter fails to revive oscillations, and instead leads to a transition from quantum amplitude death to quantum oscillation death.

Dynamic interaction induced explosive death

Shiva Dixit et al.

Summary: Research shows that the heterogeneity in the timings of interactions between oscillators in coupled dynamical systems significantly influences the dynamical processes, leading to an abrupt transition from oscillatory to death state due to occasional interactions, coexisting oscillatory and death states near the transition point.
