Dropwise condensation heat transfer on nanostructured superhydrophobic surfaces with different inclinations and surface subcoolings

Xin Wang et al.

Summary: This study examines the dynamic behaviors, size distribution, and heat transfer performance of droplets on nanostructured surfaces under different condensing conditions. The results show that the jumping frequency decreases, droplet diameter increases, and maximum jumping height decreases as subcooling increases. Furthermore, heat transfer coefficient is significantly enhanced at different inclinations, demonstrating the impact of initial wetting state and inclination on droplet dynamics and heat transfer performance during pure vapor condensation.

Role of condensation on boiling heat transfer in a confined chamber

Suchen Wu et al.

Summary: By investigating the influence of condensation surface wettability on the coupled boiling and condensation heat transfer in a confined chamber, an optimal contact angle of 85 degrees was identified. Two modified condensation surfaces were proposed for enhanced heat transfer efficiency, with the biphilic surface exhibiting relatively better heat transfer performance.

Effects of the surface tension gradient and viscosity on coalescence-induced droplet jumping on superamphiphobic surfaces

Huimin Hou et al.

Summary: With the development of superhydrophobic surface technology, coalescence-induced droplet jumping has broad applications in condensation heat transfer and self-cleaning. This study examines the process of droplet jumping induced by coalescence on superamphiphobic surfaces using glycerol-water mixtures with different glycerol volume fractions. Results indicate that the effects of surface tension gradient and viscosity on droplet jumping differ in different regions.

Enhancing dropwise condensation on downward-facing surfaces through the synergistic effects of surface structure and mixed wettability

S. Tang et al.

Summary: The numerical investigation reveals that the downward-facing structured surface with mixed wettability has better condensation performance due to the synergistic effects of surface structure and mixed wettability. The dynamic behavior of condensed droplets on this surface can be divided into three stages.

Modified phase-field-based lattice Boltzmann model for incompressible multiphase flows

Xingchun Xu et al.

Summary: A novel MRT lattice Boltzmann model based on phase-field theory is proposed for simulating immiscible multiphase fluids. Comparative studies show that removing artificial terms can improve the accuracy of the model. By adjusting free parameters, numerical errors can be reduced effectively.
