First-principles study on the electric field manipulation of the magnetic property and the electronic structures for monolayer Fe2C MXene

Yan-Li Li et al.

Summary: This research investigates the magnetic properties, electronic structures, magnetic anisotropy, and Curie temperature of monolayer Fe2C through first-principles calculations. The study reveals that the electric field can tune the magnetic easy direction and decrease the Curie temperature. The findings provide a theoretical guide for reducing the Curie temperature of magnetic materials with high T(C) to room temperature.

Strain modulation of magnetic properties of monolayer and bilayer FePS3 antiferromagnet

Jian-min Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of strain on the magnetism of monolayer and bilayer FePS3 antiferromagnets using first-principles calculations. The results show that compressive strain can enhance the magnetic anisotropy energy of monolayer FePS3, while tensile strain leads to a decrease-rise-decrease trend. The interlayer coupling of bilayer FePS3 is sensitive to strain and undergoes an antiferromagnetic-ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic transition under strain.

Magnetic anisotropy in Co/phosphorene heterostructure

S. Hamidreza Hoseyni et al.

Summary: Magnetic anisotropy (MA) is crucial in the design of future spintronic and magnetic devices, especially in structures with few angstroms thickness. Using first-principles calculations, we found that the interface MA in Co/phosphorene heterostructures is comparable to that of ferromagnet/heavy-metal interfaces, despite the weak spin-orbit coupling strength of phosphorus atoms. Furthermore, the magnetic anisotropy energy (MAE) of the system can be significantly increased by applying strain, with the MA varying from perpendicular to in-plane directions.
