Redetermination of the strong-interaction width in pionic hydrogen

A. Hirtl et al.

Summary: The hadronic width of the ground state of pionic hydrogen has been redetermined by X-ray spectroscopy to be (856+/- 16stat+/- 22sys) meV. The experiment used a high-resolution Bragg spectrometer with spherically bent crystals to study the Coulomb de-excitation in detail and confirm the consistency with chiral perturbation theory.

Nπ-state contamination in lattice calculations of the nucleon electromagnetic form factors

Oliver Baer et al.

Summary: The study investigates the contribution of nucleon-pion states to QCD lattice calculations of nucleon electromagnetic form factors using chiral perturbation theory. The results show that the contribution to the electric form factor is around +5% at a source-sink separation of 2 fm, increasing with momentum transfer Q(2). In contrast, the contribution to the magnetic form factor leads to an underestimation of about 5% that decreases with increasing Q(2).
