Delivery-based criteria for empiric antibiotic administration among preterm infants

Samuel J. Garber et al.

Summary: The study found that using delivery criteria to determine antibiotic initiation for premature infants may lower the antibiotic initiation rate for low-risk ELBW infants, but there is a trend of decreased antibiotic initiation rate for low-risk VLBW infants throughout the study period.

Intrapartum Antibiotic Exposure and Body Mass Index in Children

Summary: Intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis may lead to increased childhood body mass index, especially in the prevention of group B streptococcal infection. This study found that breastfeeding does not modify this association.
