Update on the diagnosis and management of systemic lupus erythematosus

Antonis Fanouriakis et al.

Summary: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is characterized by clinical heterogeneity, unpredictable course and flares. Diagnosis remains clinical with limited serologic test confirmation, and newer classification criteria offer more accurate classification. Treatment goals focus on patient survival, flare prevention, organ damage prevention, and quality of life optimization. High-intensity immunosuppressive therapy followed by less intensive therapy is typically used to control disease activity in severe cases of SLE.

The Ubiquitin System and A20: Implications in Health and Disease

E. C. Mooney et al.

Summary: Inflammation is triggered by innate sensors, and immune cell activation is a strictly regulated process supported by negative feedback mechanisms. Ubiquitination plays a critical role in regulating the immune system, with A20 serving as an important ubiquitin-editing enzyme in inflammation.

The emerging role of KDM5A in human cancer

Guan-Jun Yang et al.

Summary: Histone methylation is crucial for chromatin function, affecting genome integrity, transcriptional regulation, and epigenetic inheritance. KDM5A, a key demethylase, plays a significant role in various human diseases, particularly cancers. Research on KDM5A inhibitors for cancer therapy shows promise but also presents challenges in the field.
