Coherent control of the multiple wavelength lasing of N2+: coherence transfer and beyond

Summary: Coherent emission in nitrogen molecules pumped by intense femtosecond laser pulses can be controlled through coherent control, with a competition between the emission spectral components and the ability to achieve coherent control through delay tuning. The observations are reproduced by a microscopic molecular relaxation model highlighting the crucial role of electronic and vibrational coherences and their coupling during the lasing action.

Photon retention in coherently excited nitrogen ions

By using a strong 800 nm femtosecond laser pulse, photon retention and re-emittance can be achieved in a system of coherently excited molecular nitrogen ions. The findings shed light on the nature of coherent quantum control in N thorn 2 and its potential application in optical information storage.
