Mode-splitting in a microring resonator for self-referenced biosensing

Summary: The experimental demonstration of a self-referenced biosensor based on mode-splitting on a microring resonator is shown in this study. By modifying the structure of a Bragg grating integrated on the ring resonator, variations in mode-splitting can be detected, with minimal influence from environmental factors like temperature and refractive index. This principle opens up the possibility of realizing truly self-referenced biosensors insensitive to temperature and refractive index variations.
