Dielectric optical nanoantennas

Md Rabiul Hasan et al.

Summary: Nanophotonics allows manipulation of light on a subwavelength scale, with dielectric nanoantennas offering advantages over plasmonic counterparts including lower dissipative losses and near-field enhancements. Nanoantennas increase optical density of states, impacting spontaneous emission rates via the Purcell effect, with the ability to integrate into high quality-factor optical resonators for improved performance and high Purcell factors. Applications and challenges of dielectric nanoantennas are discussed, with prospects for increased commercial incorporation and further advancements in the field.

Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor optical dynamic range

Vyas Akondi et al.

Summary: This paper introduces an alternative definition of optical dynamic range based on avoiding the overlap of lenslet images. Compared to the traditional lenslet-bound definition, the optical dynamic range is larger and better adapted to the number of lenslets across the SHWS pupil. Additionally, a pre-centroiding algorithm is proposed to simplify the process of determining lenslet image locations in the presence of defocus and astigmatism.
