QuantumCumulants.jl: A Julia framework for generalized mean-field equations in open quantum systems

David Plankensteiner et al.

Summary: A full quantum mechanical treatment of open quantum systems is often limited by the size of the underlying Hilbert space. In this paper, the authors propose an open-source framework that automates the cumulant expansion approach for truncating the infinite set of operator product equations. The framework is showcased in several example problems, demonstrating its usefulness.

Ultranarrow Superradiant Lasing by Dark Atom-Photon Dressed States

Yuan Zhang et al.

Summary: Under the influence of a magnetic field, incoherent pumping of ultracold strontium-88 atoms in an optical lattice clock system produces laser light with a narrow linewidth. This narrow lasing results from an interplay between multiatom superradiant effects and the coupling of bright and dark atom-light dressed states by the magnetic field.

Subradiant-to-Subradiant Phase Transition in the Bad Cavity Laser

Athreya Shankar et al.

Summary: The study reveals a dissipative phase transition before the onset of steady-state superradiance in a bad cavity laser, characterized by nonanalytic behavior and variance discontinuity. Below a critical repump rate, the cavity output power is strongly suppressed, while above this value it scales linearly with atom number. In the critical region, a macroscopically entangled steady state is observed with a negligible fraction of unentangled atoms in the large atom number limit.

Regular and bistable steady-state superradiant phases of an atomic beam traversing an optical cavity

Simon B. Jager et al.

Summary: The study investigates different photon emission mechanisms when an atomic beam passes through an optical cavity, finding that atoms undergo superlative emission under certain conditions. The analysis also shows that a continuous light emission phase similar to steady-state superradiance is established when the atomic beam is slightly tilted, but a dynamical phase transition to a bistable superradiant regime occurs under specific conditions.

Cavity-immune spectral features in the pulsed superradiant crossover regime

Mikkel Tang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the spectral properties and phase behavior of pulsed lasing on the S-1(0) - P-3(1) line of Sr-88 in a mK thermal ensemble. Experimental results show that for certain detunings of the cavity resonance, the influence of cavity noise on the lasing frequency can be eliminated to first order.
