Impact of sunlight on the optical properties and ligand field parameters of nickel borosilicate glasses

Faten Al-Hazmi et al.

Summary: This study discusses the impact of sunlight on stability and optical properties of borosilicate glasses doped with NiO synthesized via melt quenching approach. It was found that the average density and molar volume decrease with higher NiO doping, leading to decreased stability under sunlight irradiation. However, glass samples with 1% NiO content showed the lowest degradation percentage under sunlight, indicating the highest stability compared to other samples.

Progress in full spectrum solar energy utilization by spectral beam splitting hybrid PV/T system

Huaxu Liang et al.

Summary: The spectral beam splitting (SBS) hybrid PV/T system is an effective way to utilize full spectrum solar energy for electricity generation and high-grade heat production. By dividing sunlight based on wavelength matching, the system can increase overall efficiency and separate the photoelectric and photothermal conversion processes. The use of nanofluids, nano-film, and semitransparent PV cells has shown promising advancements in improving system efficiency and addressing operational temperature issues.

Visible Light Driven Hot-Electron Injection by Pd Nanoparticles: Fast Response in Metal-Semiconductor Photodetection

Liang Chen et al.

Summary: Hot-electron injection induced by plasmon decay enables ultrafast electron transfer in metallic nanoparticles, with palladium nanoparticles showing promising potential for high-speed optoelectronics due to their higher density of states next to the Fermi level. Confocal Kelvin probe force microscopy was used to investigate the optical properties of Pd NPs and plasmon induced hot-electron injection, which was found to initiate dense hot-electron transfer in the visible range. The result confirms the energetic Pd hot electrons in the visible range for photoelectric applications.
