The structure and optical properties of PVA-BaTiO3 nanocomposite films

T. S. Soliman et al.

Summary: This study aimed to synthesize BaTiO3 nanocrystalline particles using the tartrate precursor process, and then prepare nanocomposite films with PVA. Analysis using XRD and FTIR showed complex interactions between BaTiO3 nanoparticles and the PVA matrix. As the concentration of BaTiO3 nanoparticles in the PVA matrix increased, the optical band gap decreased while the Urbach energy increased.

Nonlinear optical absorption in PVA films doped by the novel natural dye extract from C. redflash leaves

P. C. Haripadmam et al.

Summary: This study investigates the linear and nonlinear optical properties of polyvinyl alcohol films doped with natural dye from Caladium redflash leaves. The films show excellent optical limiting efficiency due to strong reverse saturable absorption, making them potential candidates for device applications. These green, durable and cost-effective films can serve as economical substitutes for costly transparent optical coatings made using synthetic dyes.

Kramers-Kronig analysis of the optical linearity and nonlinearity of nanostructured Ga-doped ZnO thin films

H. Elhosiny Ali et al.

Summary: Pure zinc oxide and gallium-doped ZnO films were deposited on a glass substrate using a sol-gel assisted spin coating technique. The films were characterized for their structural, morphological, and optical properties, with an emphasis on the effects of doping. Doping was shown to lead to enhancements in linear optical properties and transparency, making the films useful for various optical device applications.

Effect of aluminum reinforcement on the structural, physicochemical, and electrochemical properties of polyaniline-derived polymer/aluminum composites by in situ polymerization

Feridun Demir

Summary: This study investigated the properties of polyaniline-derived polymer/pristine aluminum composites, focusing on the conductivity and electrochemical energy storage effects of Al particles as reinforcing elements. SEM and FTIR results showed the successful synthesis of the polymer, with Al particles embedded in the polymer matrix. However, the inclusion of Al particles in the matrix led to decreased conductivity due to the formation of a protective oxide film layer on the aluminum surface. Electrochemical characterizations revealed that composites with different aluminum content did not exhibit good supercapacitor properties compared to pure polyaniline, as the Al particles did not effectively interact with the polymer matrix. Hence, the composites showed higher corrosion protection effectiveness due to the presence of a stable oxide film layer on the aluminum surface.

Effect of UV irradiation on optical properties of pristine and MnCl2 doped PVA films

Amit Jain et al.

Summary: The optical properties of pristine poly(vinyl alcohol) and MnCl2 doped PVA composite films were studied, revealing that the band gap of MnCl2-doped PVA is lower than that of pristine PVA and is dependent on irradiation time.
