Recent studies have shown that cancer cells and their membranes exhibit an exceptionally high concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS), leading to the development of a method using biopolymers modified from polyphenylvinylene (PPV) as biosensors targeting ROS.
Polyphenylvinylene (PPV) and its derivatives were normally used as polymer light emitting devices (PLEDs) in the last two decades. PLEDs have shown several advantages over the traditional inorganic LEDs. However, few people pay attention to its potential use in biosystem detection. Recent studies have shown that the reactive oxygen species (ROS) display an extraordinary high-level concentration in most cancer cells and their membranes. Here, we report a series of biopolymers modified from polyphenylvinylene (PPV) as biosensors targeting ROS. In this work, we developed an approach for detecting ROS via an economic and simple handling approach.
