Investigation of bandgap properties in one-dimensional binary superconductor-dielectric photonic crystal: TE case

S. A. Taya et al.

Summary: The property of photonic bandgaps (PBGs) in a binary superconductor-dielectric photonic crystal was studied with different incidence angles and various superconductor parameters. It was found that the PBG width decreases with increasing incidence angle until it disappears at high angles, and there is an optimum superconducting layer thickness for maximum PBG. The critical temperature has the lowest impact on PBG width, while the London penetration length has the greatest effect.

Modelling of three tunable multichannel filters using Ag metal as a defect layer in a photonic crystal

Sofyan A. Taya et al.

Summary: This study modeled three optical multi-color filters and found that they have different filtering channels, the number of which is related to the number of coupled defects. The resonant peaks of the filters will be blue shifted with the increase of coupled defects.

Properties of band gap for p-polarized wave propagating in a binary superconductor-dielectric photonic crystal

Sofyan A. Taya et al.

Summary: The study focuses on investigating the impact of various parameters of the superconducting layer on the photonic band gap (PBG). It was found that the PBG band width at half maximum decreases as the angle of incidence increases, until reaching the Brewster angle where the band gap vanishes. Among the parameters studied, the London penetration length has the greatest effect on the band width at half maximum.

Tunable PBGs with a cutoff frequency feature in Fibonacci quasi-periodic designs containing a superconductor material at THz region

C. Malek et al.

Summary: In this work, a Fibonacci quasi periodic-photonic crystal design using superconductor and nanocomposite materials as constituent layers was proposed. The optical properties of the design in the THz region were theoretically investigated, revealing a tunable photonic band and cutoff frequency feature that can be controlled through design parameters. The proposed design has potential applications in high reflection mirrors, band-pass filters, fibers, and microcavities at the THz region.

A Comparative study of the effective surface impedance of an HTc superconducting thin film from visible to mid-IR region

Walied Sabra et al.

Summary: This study presents a comparative theoretical analysis of the effective surface impedance of a HTc superconducting thin film across different electromagnetic spectrum regions. The research shows variations in the values of effective surface resistance and reactance with increasing frequency, with higher values in the visible region compared to NIR and MIR regions. The significance of the study lies in understanding the electromagnetic power dissipation and magnetic-field penetration depth in superconducting thin films for device performance.
