Long-term Effect of Dual-focus Contact Lenses on Myopia Progression in Children: A 6-year Multicenter Clinical Trial

Paul Chamberlain et al.

Summary: Treatment of myopic children with a dual-focus soft contact lens (DFCL) can effectively slow down the progression of myopia, and switching to DFCLs after 3 years of treatment also has a significant impact.

Effects of brief periods of clear vision on the defocus-mediated changes in axial length and choroidal thickness of human eyes

Samaneh Delshad et al.

Summary: The study found that brief periods of interrupted clear vision can effectively slow down the axial elongation induced by hyperopic defocus exposure, reducing the thinning of the choroid. This approach may help reduce the myopic effects of hyperopic defocus on myopia progression in humans.

Adverse event rates in the retrospective cohort study of safety of paediatric soft contact lens wear: the ReCSS study

Robin L. Chalmers et al.

Summary: This study reviewed clinical records of 963 children to determine the safety of soft contact lens wear in children. It found that 12.2% of children experienced potential ocular adverse events, with a rate of 7.4/10,000 years for microbial keratitis and 0.66% per year for other inflammatory AEs. These rates are comparable to those among adults wearing SCLs.
