This study successfully developed a novel electrode matrix for the electrochemical determination of hydrogen peroxide, using a combination of multiwalled carbon nanotubes and polymer modification. The electrode demonstrated a low detection limit and high sensitivity in experiments, proving its effectiveness for hydrogen peroxide sensing.
The present work focuses on the electrochemical determination of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), using poly(bisbenzimidazolatocopper(ii)) coordinated multiwalled carbon nanotube modified glassy carbon electrode (MWCNT/(BIM-Cu2+)(n)@GCE). The physical characterization techniques point to the coordination of the polymer web around MWCNT. The electrode matrix developed was employed for the electrochemical estimation of H2O2. The polymer works better in the presence of the MWCNT as it acts as conducting spokes, which is significant for the successful electrochemical sensing of H2O2. To the best of our knowledge, this type of coordination polymer web for sensing peroxide is reported for the first time. In amperometric sensing, the electrode exhibited an H2O2 detection limit of 7.8 x 10(-7) M and a sensitivity of 5 nA mu M-1. The effectiveness of the electrode was further proved via interference study and applying it to H2O2 sensing in real samples.
