Highly Stable Polyoxovanadate-Based Zn-MOF with Dual Active Sites as a Solvent-free Catalyst for C-C Bond Formation

Hongrui Tian et al.

Summary: The zinc-organic framework V-Zn-MOF combines rich Lewis acid and base sites, efficiently catalyzing Knoevenagel condensation and cyanosilylation of aromatic aldehydes. The synergetic effect of open zinc sites as Lewis acid and {V2O6}(n)(2n-) polyanion as Lewis base contributes to the selective catalytic activity. The connection mode of {V2O5}-O-Zn enhances efficiency by reducing the molecular size distance between substrates.

Tandem-like vanadium cluster chains in a polyoxovanadate-based metal-organic framework for efficient catalytic oxidation of sulfides

Tian-Yi Dang et al.

Summary: A novel polyoxovanadate-based metal-organic framework with a unique tandem-like vanadium cluster chain structure was successfully synthesized and characterized, showing excellent catalytic activity in the oxidation of sulfides with mild oxidant hydrogen peroxide. Density functional theory calculations revealed that the lower LUMO energy level of the vanadium cluster chain in V-Ni-MOF contributes to its high activity under mild hydrogen peroxide conditions. Additionally, V-Ni-MOF maintained its excellent catalytic activity after multiple cycles, highlighting its potential as a stable heterogeneous catalyst.

Fe/Co and Ni/Co-pentlandite type electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction

Mathias Smialkowski et al.

Summary: Metal-rich transition metal sulfides have gained attention as electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction due to their ability to overcome challenges faced by sulfide-rich metal catalysts. This study demonstrates the synthesis, characterization, and electrocatalytic investigation of ternary metal-rich sulfide composites with pentlandite-type structures. Stoichiometric variation in these composites significantly influences their electrochemical activation/deactivation behavior, with Co-deficient composites showing improved performance in HER compared to Co9S8. Additionally, Ni/Co compounds generally exhibit higher catalytic activities towards HER than Fe/Co compounds.
