Biomass derived carbon dot decorated ssDNA for a 'turn-on' fluorescent assay for detection of Staphylococcus aureus MNase

Chandan Hunsur Ravikumar et al.

Summary: In this research, a novel 'turn on' fluorescence aptasensor based on an energy transfer mechanism was designed using ssDNA conjugated carbon dots (C-dots) and graphene oxide (GO). The study revealed that the property of MNase to cleave DNA was exploited to inhibit the interaction between C-dots and GO, enabling the detection of MNase of S. aureus. The mechanism of energy transfer was studied using different lengths of ssDNA, confirming the non-toxicity and fluorescence quantum yield of C-dots.

Cadmium sulfide quantum dots anchored on reduced graphene oxide for the electrochemical detection of metronidazole

Praveen Kumar Gopi et al.

Summary: In this study, CdS QDs were successfully synthesized and anchored on rGO nanosheets via a simple sonication method to enhance their electron charge transfer properties. The composite was characterized using various analytical techniques and showed a well-dispersed morphology. With the synergistic effect between rGO and CdS QDs, the composite exhibited superior electrochemical response for the detection of MTZ, with wide linear range and low detection limit. Additionally, the proposed electrode demonstrated satisfactory recovery results in milk samples.
