Synthesis of a novel mesoporous Fe3O4@SiO2/CTAB-SiO2 composite material and its application in the efficient removal of bisphenol A from water

Yichao Gong et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel mesoporous magnetic composite material was prepared and characterized for its potential of removing bisphenol A (BPA) from water. The Fe3O4@SiO2/CTAB-SiO2 composite material exhibited a high removal efficiency of 93.2% and a remarkable adsorption capacity of 208.3 mg/g for BPA. The adsorption process was found to be chemical, spontaneous, and exothermic, with main interaction mechanisms involving electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions. The composite material also showed good recovery efficiency and stability after multiple adsorption-desorption cycles. The results suggest that this composite material is a promising candidate for efficient removal of bisphenols.
