Neuropilin-1 mediates lung tissue-specific control of ILC2 function in type 2 immunity

Jingjing Zhang et al.

Summary: This study identifies neuropilin-1 (Nrp1) as a tissue-specific marker of lung-resident ILC2s, which enhances their function and type 2 immune response by upregulating IL-33 receptor ST2 expression. Inhibition of Nrp1 suppresses IL-5 and IL-13 production by ILC2s and protects mice from the development of pulmonary fibrosis.

Tissue-specific transcriptional imprinting and heterogeneity in human innate lymphoid cells revealed by full-length single-cell RNA-sequencing

Luca Mazzurana et al.

Summary: This study utilized single-cell RNA sequencing to uncover tissue-specific transcriptional profiles and heterogeneity of CD127(+) ILCs in four human tissues. It identified migratory properties, tissue-residency, activation, and modified metabolism characteristics of ILCs in different tissues. The study also revealed potential differentiation pathways from naive to mature ILC subsets, and unique TCR-V(D)J-rearrangement patterns of blood ILC1-like cells.

Group 2 Innate Lymphoid Cells: Team Players in Regulating Asthma

Noe Rodriguez-Rodriguez et al.

Summary: Type 2 immunity serves to protect the host from infection while also contributing to tissue homeostasis, metabolism, and repair. However, excessive type 2 immune reactions may lead to allergy and asthma. ILC2s in the lungs respond rapidly to environmental cues, playing a crucial role in regulating the pathology of allergic asthma.
