The luminous and rapidly evolving SN 2018bcc: Clues toward the origin of Type Ibn SNe from the Zwicky Transient Facility

E. Karamehmetoglu et al.

Summary: The study of fast Type Ibn SN 2018bcc revealed it to be a typical rapidly evolving SN powered by CSM interaction. The spectral features showed P-Cygni profiles, indicating a dense and optically thick CSM.

Real-time discovery of AT2020xnd: a fast, luminous ultraviolet transient with minimal radioactive ejecta

Summary: The discovery of AT2020xnd as the first unambiguous AT2018cow analogue in real time supports the argument that events like AT2018cow represent a distinct phenomenon from slower-evolving radio-quiet supernovae.

SN 2020bqj: A Type Ibn supernova with a long-lasting peak plateau

E. C. Kool et al.

Summary: SN 2020bqj is a rare Type Ibn supernova with a long-duration peak plateau lasting 40 days, hosted by a faint low-mass galaxy. Its properties are peculiar compared to other SNe Ibn, but modeling suggests it can be powered by shock heating from SN ejecta-CSM interaction combined with radioactive decay. The similarities with SN 2011hw suggest a distinct progenitor scenario for this subclass.

A Large Fraction of Hydrogen-rich Supernova Progenitors Experience Elevated Mass Loss Shortly Prior to Explosion

Rachel J. Bruch et al.

Summary: Spectroscopic detection of narrow emission lines reveals circumstellar mass distributions around massive stars exploding as core-collapse supernovae. The study suggests that elevated mass loss shortly prior to explosion is a common process in massive stars.

The Palomar Transient Factory Core-collapse Supernova Host-galaxy Sample. I. Host-galaxy Distribution Functions and Environment Dependence of Core-collapse Supernovae

Steve Schulze et al.

Summary: This study presents the photometric properties and mass distributions of host galaxies of various types of core-collapse supernovae (CCSNe). Differences in preferences for galaxy properties were found among different SN classes, with Type Ib/c SNe preferring galaxies with higher masses and metallicities. H-poor superluminous supernovae (SLSNe) were scarce in galaxies with high masses, requiring environments with low metallicities and younger stellar populations as progenitors.

Bright, Months-long Stellar Outbursts Announce the Explosion of Interaction-powered Supernovae

Nora L. Strotjohann et al.

Summary: Observations have revealed precursor eruptions before supernova explosions, which become brighter and more frequent in the months leading up to the explosion. Despite potentially ejecting large amounts of material, supernovae with detected precursors are not significantly more luminous than other supernovae.
