Metal ion implantation into transparent dielectric slab: an effective route to high-stability localized surface plasmon resonance sensors

Nanocomposite fabricated by low energy silver ions implanted into dielectrics and sensitive to the refractive index of overlay

Summary: Implanting 30 keV silver ions at a fluence of 6 x 10(16) ionscm(-2) into SiO2, Al2O3, and YAG resulted in nanocomposite layers embedded with silver nanoparticles sensitive to the refractive index of overlays. Dropping liquids with different refractive indices on the surface of nanocomposite layers led to a shift in reflection spectra. Samples with YAG as the substrate showed better performance and potential applications in localized surface plasmon resonance sensors.
