Responsive and activable nanomedicines for remodeling the tumor microenvironment

Yinlong Zhang et al.

Summary: By regulating tumor-associated platelets and pancreatic stellate cells in the tumor microenvironment, drug delivery can be enhanced, improving the therapeutic efficacy of nanomedicines. These multifunctional nanoparticles can be used to regulate other components in the TME, achieving synergistic anti-tumor activity.

A Near-Infrared-II Polymer with Tandem Fluorophores Demonstrates Superior Biodegradability for Simultaneous Drug Tracking and Treatment Efficacy Feedback

Dengshuai Wei et al.

Summary: This study introduces a highly biodegradable polyester carrying tandem NIR-II fluorophores as a promising alternative for in vivo monitoring of drugs and real-time feedback on therapeutic effects. The polymer encapsulated a platinum intercalator and was conjugated with both a cell-targeting peptide and a caspase-3 cleavable peptide probe for simultaneous NIR-II and apoptosis imaging, demonstrating strong potency in vitro and significant inhibition of tumor growth in a mouse model. Through label-free mass spectrometry imaging, in situ release of the platinum intercalator in deeper tumors was observed.

Photoacoustic molecular imaging-escorted adipose photodynamic-browning synergy for fighting obesity with virus-like complexes

Ronghe Chen et al.

Summary: Photodynamic therapy and adipose browning induction are two promising approaches to reverse obesity, with the former acting rapidly and locally, and the latter having a more gradual and widespread effect. Despite their complementarity, they have rarely been combined and imaged non-invasively in vivo.

A combinational chemo-immune therapy using an enzyme-sensitive nanoplatform for dual-drug delivery to specific sites by cascade targeting

Yanmei He et al.

Summary: By developing cascade-targeting, dual drug-loaded core-shell nanoparticles, precise drug delivery to tumors and overcoming biological barriers were achieved; the degradation of hyaluronic acid shell facilitated drug release and cellular uptake, while the exposure of triphenylphosphonium derivative core allowed for mitochondria-targeted delivery, ultimately inhibiting tumor growth.
